Moving 34' Sailboat From West Coast To East Coast

To all, I need assistance planning a move from west to east, 34' sailboat. I do NOT want to sail it there but am considering moving via trailer. I want to contract the job but am not sure how to qualify the mover. I have numerous bids at greatly varying prices, +/- 50%. My boat is in a slip at Dana Point and the destination is Cape Hatteras.

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Ask a local yard owner or manager for a reference. Assumption is that they would have experience with local brokers buying and selling then shipping some of these boats overland. Also, consider same approach to any of the local new boat dealers. I just bought a new Jeanneau 349 from a dealer in Cleveland, 700 miles from where I sail. He offered his shipper and I know that is based on experience. Shipping is a routine component of new boat sales.

Are you looking for recommendations based on experience?

What we think it should cost?

PS: Have contacts in Hatteras for a yard/lift if you haven't picked one...
