Mast Stepping

Good day, gentlemen

I have just recently purchased an older Newport 30. There are a number of things I want to do this this boat and most of them have to do with the mast and mast rigging.

Still yet, looking at the bottom of the mast, I have no idea how to step the mast down. Now, just to be clear, I am going to hire a crane/forklift. There is no way I can lift this thing.

But I am just not sure how this mast works.

I would appreciate any feedback!

Looks like it's stepped on deck. Compresion post would be in the cabin. Basically there should be a reciever plate that the mast is sitting on. Not much else . With the carane taking the load you should be able to disconnect the shrouds stays and wiring. Mast then should lift clear. The rigging of the crane. You want a harness tha is above the pivot point of the stick. The lift load is transfers from the harness down to winches or clealts near the base if the mast. Hope that helps

Several well prepared workers can unstep that mast without a crane. But a crane is the ea$y way.

Do not forget to detach and label the wires before lifting.

I would not seal the bottom of a deck stepped mast like that. There's water inside that wants to get out.
