No probs, all and any advice readily accepted thank you. I've always believed you can learn from anyone, even if it's what not to do.
It's the way the previous owner (I can say that now, yay) had it, and yes, will definitely be one of first of many things changed by us.
Keep smiling.

You've been warned! It's called "chafe." It will attack mooring and dock lines, anchor rodes, sails... Anyplace two things can move against each other. Boats have been lost, drifted onto rocks or out to sea. Learn to prevent and protect against it.

Cheers Steve, yes, the dreadful chafe that hits at the worst possible time. As an Ultra runner (plain crazy) I am all to familiar with chafe in all the wrong places. Love the advice, thank you.

Re: Holy Cow! It's real

well done. now you need to slow down to boat time / when you are on board you are timed with nature / as opposed to 9 - 5 flexi time with holidays and non sick leave bonuses

Jim, I had a bit of a chuckle myself when I read that he has a list of 5 minute jobs. Sometimes just finding a cold beer is 5 minutes!

You might like to look at this blog of a guy I know who has a Kalik 44 with teak decks.

Just make sure the surveyor gives the decks a really good looking over.

Gorgeous vessel !! Nice baby stay ! Notwithstanding the chafe comment earlier, just curious what is the purpose of the netting over the boom? Haven't seen that here in the States.

Just thinking where the beer is takes at least 5 minutes, actually finding it even longer, but admittedly it takes only seconds to decide it is definitely worth using up one of the cold packs in the first aid lit to cool it down. Truth be told, I am sure I'd have refrigeration of my wife would sail with me.

Re: Holy Cow! It's real

I'm guessing the netting is to keep birds off. I like birds, but until their toilet habits improve, they're not welcome on my boat. There are threads on CF about bird deterrent measures. I'm using a combination of monofilament line and netting. Over the boom I have a single strand of mono with a couple of CDs dangling.

Re: Holy Cow! It's real

As someone else said, not on CF that I know about, and not RLT either, although they are what I am talking about, "Those were the days my friend...." Good sounds for a rail under tack, as well a long uneventful run wing, and wing, without the conditions that say, "watch out, the next one could cause a broach." Cool was the time and the word, and all that store bought ice had not yet melted.

But the effect is not as bad if you are in warm tropical waters.
