Help I don't know what I just bought

So I am not super new to sailing but I am new to "larger" boats. I have sailed sunfish and lasers but never anything bigger than 16 ft. I bought a 21 foot sail boat from a guy and he nor I have any idea what kind it is. I was hoping some of you could help me out. I also have about 3,786 other questions (more or less) about my new boat. if there is any problem seeing the picture let me know and i will post them on my photobucket and paste a link. I trust you guys.

Somewhere there should be a manufacturer's serial number, which would tell you the maker and date of construction.

Maybe give some more info like where you are, possible year of build etc.

If you were in Oz I've venture the pinched stern is v similat to one of the v early John Swarbrick cruiser racers. But suspect lots of designers in the 60's came up with similar stuff - but more info might help track it down.

k thanks were should I look for the hin? that would be the biggest help I imagine...

Kinda looks like a Choate 27, but dont know if they made a 21... looks bigger than that...

Most HIN's are on transom, upper stb corner.

It is certainly an old IOR design given that tuck at the rudder post. Don't know the model. It's too small to be a quarter tonner.

Actually, pretty similar to mine (designed by Bob Perry, who weighs in a few posts down). I bet there were a lot of boats with that wine-glass shape.

Perhaps a few more pix might narrow this down .. some of the interior might help.

I've been studying that profile pic and the hull looks a bit like Doug Peterson might have done in the mid '70's. I do not recognize the deck though. Where is this boat?

I'd say not .. the hull lines are very different. Picked this shot up off the Santana website. Both the bow and stern make much sharper angles and the hull looks to have less freeboard. And the rudder doesn't look to be cut into the hull as it is in the mystery boat

I think he said the boat was 21' LOA in the first post so it is certainly not a quarter tonner. JOLI might be onto something though. Santana built some Shad Turner designs in the mid '70's and this could very well be one of those. However I can find no record of them building a 21'er quite like this one. The house does appear to be a bit weird and should be a dead give away if it is stock. Maybe this is a one off.

Well, judging by the removed equipment, name, and HIN #, and the previous owner unable to help , the make "STOLEN" comes to mind !

Now I dont know small boats - many are almost identical- but it does look like my neighbours Hunter.
( But he still has his !)
