Gozzard Yacht Rendezvous Goderich ON

NEWS

Spring 2015 - Rendezous Registration is now Open
Wednesday March 4th, 2015

Well April is fast approaching and even though today is the first day that is actually above the freezing point here, you can really sense that a new sailing season is just around the corner... and that means our Gozzard U and owner’s rendezvous is almost upon us.

Registration for owners and guests is now officially open for what is shaping up to be a well attended and very busy weekend of April 24-26. For those of you whom have already expressed your intentions to attend, expect to hear from Jan via email with the details within the next week or so... failing that please email Jan at jan@gozzard.com to complete your registration. There will a cover charge of $100 per person to help cover dinner, lunch, snacks and a Gozzard swag bag. We will set the final agenda for the activities a couple of weeks ahead of the event but for those still on the fence, here is what we can tell you so far.

While this event is primarily intended for the use and enjoyment of current Gozzard owners, we also take this opportunity (only because it is the one time during the year that the shop is clean and respectable looking (to whatever degree it can be)) to open the doors to the general public and hopefully a few potential future owners as well to have a look around on Saturday... but the Registered guests will be invited to arrive at their leisure anytime after noon on Friday were they will be invited to tour the shop and the boats on the floor and chat with some of the guys on whatever comes to mind. Friday is intended to be informal but there is always something cool going on and it is great opportunity to reacquaint. Saturday morning from 9 until 11 will be more of the same with the formal stuff beginning at 11 with our Gozzard Cruising Panel. The panel will include Gozzard 41 owners Ian and Joy Winterborn who have recently completed a circumnavigation of the Atlantic and Gozzard 37 owner Chris Conner who is a certified offshore instructor. We will also have a few additional experienced owner with intimate knowledge of the intercoastal and the Bahamas who may join in as well. After lunch we will dig into the finer points of Westerbeke diesel trouble shooting with a live running engine demonstration which we will introduce any number of failure conditions so you can get firsthand experience on how to recognized these issues – what they look and feel like and how to resolve them. After that we will open the floor to a Q/A period and cover whatever topics are most popular. Roy Shipley from Raymarine will be here throughout the day to give small groups advanced equipment training on current and legacy equipment installed on the boats on the floor. On Saturday night we will reconvene for dinner. Sunday will be an opportunity for anyone who still hasn't had enough and/or have specific questions including demonstration where ever practical. Registered guests are invited to partake in all or to whatever extent they wish – we know some of the discussions on Saturday afternoon get rather intense and are not for the faint of heart so there will also be other social and group activities throughout the day.

In the shop (and out in the yard) this year we will have 2 G44s, 2 G41s, a G37, 4 G36s including a rare pilot house and our brand new G41RC which will still be under construction on display. And if the weather co-operates we may put the mast up on the Melges 24 to demonstrate static sail trim. Any questions... feel free to call us for details.
