Re: Corten Steel

I have a project boat built in Corten which had severe underwater corrosion after being left unattended for many years - don't ask!

Replaced several plates and repaired lots of pin point corrosion.

Clearly Corten does corrode and requires all the usual precautions for mild steel.

Having said that, rust in air is much less. Stronger ? Dunno - more than enough.

Re: Corten Steel

True, but how would a mild steel hull look like after such an insult? (sorry to revive an old thread). Alloys might buy the owner precious time...
