Cape Dory 25

There is a 1981 Cape Dory 25 that has come up for sale.

Good for a beginner?

Are they nice boats?

Will it handle coastal blue water?

Are there things to watch out for?

Owner wants a quick sale because he's been transferred and it's priced right.

That is a super boat, delam in the deck is all I would worry about depending on the cost get it surveyed

I've read about the delam in the deck, bracing seems to be the answer. Survey is out of the question because of our location but it's priced right.

Owned on for many years. Fabulous sailing boat. I used to go out when no one else was out. I actually looked forward to small craft advisories. Is this 25D or a 25. They are different. Mine was a 25 and had a long shaft 9.9hp in the well.
The downside.... It's small for a 25 footer.

It's a great little boat for blue water coastal. Carl Alberg was old school and designed boats to that could handle the job.

It's a CD25 with a 9.9. He said he's had it out in 70 knot winds and it's rock solid.

It's a narrow beam and a small boat but we're looking for something portable and stable. I'm not a speed freak anymore.

It looks to me like you live in sailboat country. You should be able to find one. I live in igloo country, sailboats are as rare here as snowballs are where you are.
