During the delivery, I also learned that Beneteau requires a haul-out (and dealer inspection) after 12 months of ownership to keep the boat warranty valid. I am unclear whether another haul-out is required at the 24 month point. I'm hoping to combine the first SD20 oil change with the warranty inspection haul-out.
So these saildrive units have another fairly major issue that requires haul-out: Inspection for galvanic corrosion. Some have collar zincs that require the prop to be removed for replacement.

Because the saildrive housing is aluminum, it starts corroding preferentially as soon as the zincs are corroded over and before they're gone. Unlike an old steel shaft drive, all saildrive boats are going to need an annual haul for their entire lives.

Fortunately the yards here are now offering a "minihaul" where the lift the boat, leave it in place on the hoist, do the work, and put it back in the water all in the space of an hour or two rather than ever putting it on the hard. Much less expensive than a full haul.

3 bridges, RK. Sunrise, las Olas and 17th street. If I time it correctly, 35 minutes.
I would say that in less than 45 minutes I an in open ocean.
Cheers.

Sweet!

Where did you locate the Fisher Panda gen in the boat?

Also, can you confirm if any Broward or Dade yards do a "Surveyors Haul"?

We have had a 4.2KW Panda in our boat since 2002. They are good units but it is important that you perform the maintenance religiously to ensure continued problem free operation, including the periodic replacement of the seals in the raw water pump. (Hopefully the machine is placed where easy access isn't a problem.) Fortunately, Jeff Till and the others a FP are very good about owner/user support.

FWIW...

Matt - I have a feeling it will be more than $250 in San Diego! Have you priced one of these quick hauls yet?

Generator installed on huge starboard locker. ( two cabin configuration)
South of port Everglades there is Playboy Marina which does the surveyors haul.

Thank you for the info. I used to be a private pilot, so I give lots of importance with preventive maintenance.
This weekend I will use it for the a real test of running the air conditioning at night anchoring at no name harbor, south of Key Biscayne.
Cheers

Quick question:
Is your exhaust outlet above or below the waterline? Mine is above and it is noisier than the generator itself. There is an optional outlet gas separator, but that is another hole in the hull...
Thanks.

Thanks for rowing the dinghy out twenty yards and sending us that picture of Monica at anchor. We are cold and need inspiration as the ice pack is just staring to break!

Only quote I've gotten includes the final drive oil change for $600. Looking around as my annual is due before summer.
