Made the fella with the Cat. an offer of 2500. Trailer looks good, engine looks good, but needs a bottom job immediately, and also a few other small items. I do not think he will take it but we'll see. If not I am going to take a closer look at the Mac. The cold front hit right before I got to the Mac so I didn't get to dig around like I wanted. I also want to hear the engine run and check out the sails. I'll keep ya posted.

I dont see him taking 2500. Too much boat (and Trailer) for that price.

Did you go last Saturday?

I went to Grandpappy that day and showed up five minutes after that nice cold wind kicked in. Nothing kills the boat buying experience than freezing your buttocks off on a pier. LOL

Yeah,
The Family and I went Sat. morning to Prosper to look at the Cat. The weather was great. By time we got to Cedar Mills it was frigin' cold (~45 per car reading). Anyway since my wife refused to bring a hoodie she took mine and left me with a t-shirt. We looked at a hunter at the marina and then off to Linsey (E. of Gainesville) to look at the Mac. And yeah your right, freezing your bollocks off while trying to look at boats sucks. The fella with the Cat said he would take 3000. I am going to go for 2750 and see what happens. If not I'll probably take it for 3000 for the reasons you gave. In addition to the trailer and the boat itself, the engine is pretty new. I'll let you know.

Thanks Raz looks to be worth a look. Have you had any luck with your boat search?

Nay, not really.

I finally contacted Grandpappy today. I was looking at the Neptune 24 and Seafarer 26. He told me that the N24 may be sold but he wont know until this weekend. Ive seen the boat in person. Its been sitting for a while. It is a repo for unpaid dock fees so that explains the dirty interior. There is allot of water marks on the inside per the photos so I dont know if maybe the pop top may be leaking or what.

The S26 was a trade in for a new Cat 35. It orginally came from Lake Lavon ( ) but he says the motor runs. They had put the boat in the water before I could look at it. I was wanting to see how the rudder looked. They didnt install the mast though so I couldnt get a look at the rigging. I sent him a list of questions on it today before leaving work. I might have to give this boat another look.

My plan is to get a boat that I can take into the Gulf with no issues. So I am trying to stay away from the lake type boats and go for the heavy hull ones. Ive got a sniffer on Craigslist for a Cape Dory 25 but so far no bites.

Guess I will just watch to see what happens.
