Thumbs up California down to Central America this winter.

Hello,
I am currently living in California near the Bay Area and would like to head down to Mexico for the winter, I'm hoping to sail as I have done in the past. I have spent a good deal of time on the sea as a child and have made a few trips as an adult, including a trip from Santa Cruz to Mexico some years ago. I can cook and handle the ropes as well as steer and keep watch, my experience with charts is a little lacking but I'd love to learn. My ultimate goal is to be fluent in Spanish and feel that full immersion is the best way to learn. If anyone is heading down that way I would love to join the journey.

Thank you,
Colin.

Re: California down to Central America this winter.

Hi-

I have a boat in the Vallejo Marina, and I am planning to sail down the coast to central America hopefully by the end of this year/beginning of the next. It's a 1966 Islander '33. I'm still learning the ropes myself, but if you're interested in networking and checking it out with someone local (I'm a SF native), let me know.

Re: California down to Central America this winter.

Get on the Latitude 38 crew list. You just missed the southbound party. The Mexico list is probably the one you want. The Baja ha ha cruise leaves San Diego the last week of October headed for Cabo. There are 150 + boats. Also look on the Skippers Looking for Crew lists.

I went the first time to make sure I really wanted to cruise before committing the money. I did!
