Check the last of his posts. He explains his absence there.

According to Captain Sully's Marine Repair and Instruction, Captain Sully is located in Portsmouth, NH.

Couldn't find a post that explained why he was abandoning us.

He was so prolific!

Maybe the "Cat" got his tongue.

I see that his website is down. Maybe he is closed for the season or another reason?

On September 20/08, ssullivan posted:

“This is exactly why you will never see another post from me on this board.
The mods are allowed to personally attack you, calling you ignorant, then delete any intelligent posts you make disputing the original attack.
Then... they post new threads twisting around what happened the old one.
Last post ever. I'm gone because I don't like GordMay's evil ways.
See you all "out there"

* Emphasis mine.

I think the above thread was the camel which broke Sully's back.

There was one other insult which I can post if needed.

Sully wasn't happy, so he left. I miss most of his posting, but a fella has got to do what a fella has got to do. Maybe someday he will find his way back?

I'll tell you if it's true, or not true; if you'll tell me what "that" is.

GordMay,
The only reason which I can conclude to you deleting my post is that you have now changed your personal standard?

Gord:

That's akin to defining "is"....remember that one??

Anyway, I didn't intend to get anyone riled up. I crossed swords with Sully once, but we both got over it (I'm pretty sure of that).

So I'll hush up now.

As a Moderator and Administrator of several non-boating related forums myself, I can safely say the following:

All Admins and Mods will be portrayed as power-hungry and tyrannical at some point no matter how fair they are. Any loosely affiliated social group will have a few dissenters to every decision. With so many (seemingly) happy forum visitors around it seems that Gord's been doing an adequate job.

Every once in a while you'll get someone that is high profile that disagrees with the powers-that-be and decides to go out with a bang. Such are the side-effects of the empowerment of virtual anonymity on the Internet.

I have had some problems with the mods here and I don't dwell on it, but I think they are too full of themselves too often.

The only right thing to do when there is a dispute to excuse yourself, not assert more power.
