Surviving authentic Chinese Junks

I read about an article about "Jinhuaxing", the last surviving junk in China, China have a rule that they do not provide certification for wooden boats, and only exception was given to fishing boats and that have a lifespan limit of 20 years, "Jinhuaxing" which was made in 1953 was long overdue for her destruction by the authorities and an order was passed in 2004 to have her destroyed, but some enthusiast rescued her by purchasing her and changed her registry title to Hong Kong or Macao, it was sunk and refloated in Guangzhou in 2008 and sunk again while berthing in Macao in 2013, no news thereafter presumably lost.

Since there are a number of junks made in China had sailed abroad, and there are members here around the world, have any of you spotted any Junks which appears to be Chinese in origin anywhere?

Thanks, both appears to be motorsailers, or at lease Americanised order with more emphasis on motor than traditional sails.

This may interest you...

Supposedly the worlds oldest Junk, returned to Taiwan from the US in 2012 but can't find much more on it since then, still a very interesting story...

Esthetically pretty vessels. Do their diverse designs, from galleon-like freeboard extravaganzas to more modern ones, suggest an evolution that independently paralleled our own?

I know about "Free China", it was rotten to the hull when it was send back to Taiwan, it was said that there was a plan to restore her, but there is no more news thereafter.

"Jinhuaxing" was an older actual workboat build in 1955.
This is how she look like when she is last sunk in 2013: https://lt.cjdby.net/thread-2100292-1-1.html
Apparently, they send some officials to have a look at the sunken wreckage a year later, no mention if they had done anything, presumed the last is lost: ???????????-gcgc.cc??????????-gcgc8.com????????-

At a local marina is Barrington is a 1960-something Hong-Kong-built teak junk being lovingly upkept. It has been modernized with an engine and glass windows, but IMO a teak junk built is china is as authentic as it gets.

There was one in Marathon, Fla.. A broker was living on her and I can't remember the marina. Burdine's sticks in my mind.

Re: Surviving authentic Chinese Junks

We restored Duckling in early 80s in HK and she was sold to HK Tourist board -sailed around Honkers for years. Wayne then went on to build Princess Coachin, a replica Pole junk around 90 to retrace Marco Polo voyage, but the troubles in Persia (OK, Iraq and Iran) scuppered the voyage. He lIved aboard with his family in Aberdeen typhoon shelter for years, sold late 90s.
Dr Wayne Moran runs a drug rehab clinic in Ap Li Chow, Aberdeen, HK and also builds sailing junks to order, in HK. When I find a link I will post it
