Question about Mainsail Reef points

hello ,
I have had a verry bad experience with a Popular sailmaker brand ,i will make a new post with complete review but before that i would like to ask fellow sailors if the boom mast be straight or not , my third reef points have a diference of 30cm and that rises my boom a lot here are some photos please let me know your opinions .

Sailmaker says this is my fault but they dont explain or i dont see why

Like your other post....this is proper. Deeper reefs raise the end of the boom.

The reefs on my boats brng the boom up as well . I dont mind it as it allows for greater contol range on the leach . It also may allow for a sloppy reef with out lowering the boom and creating a safety issue
I would be interested to here from sail makers as to why this is done .

I see , the boat is 26 feet and I use the third reef verry often on over 30 knots of wind specially when beating it seems like raising the boom 30 to 40 cm in too much and has an impact on beating performance , through what you say make sense

Any reef, on any sail, will have an impact on beating perforance: the sail is designed to be efficient when at full hoist.
I have a specially designed storm try'sl I fly when I want-err....have to beat in 30 kts. If most of your sailing in is 30 kts with a 26-foot boat (sounds horrible), then you need a sail designed for those conditions. But don't expect maximum efficiency of any sail that has a lot of bunt tied up at the foot.

If beating in 30 knots is what you want, you’ll need a sail sized specifically for this. Not a deep reefed main. The reefed sail looses shape when it’s reefed.

If you really want an offshore type deep reef you want boom up further so you don’t stuff it in the water to leeward on every wave and puff while reaching in the heavy stuff.

I always thought deep reefs were designed to lift the end of the boom to help keep the boom out of the water when reaching and running in big seas.

Thats interesting ,being s cat sailor that had not occurred to me . It would be all over if I got the end of the boom in the water

The reef points on my main are parallel to the foot of the sail. It's an old CCA boat with a long foot in comparison to main sail's hoist. When deep reefed the boom is pretty close to the water on a reach. Scares me that it is so low with the boat being rolled by the seas that come with that kind of wind, Next time the sail will have the 2nd/3rd reef at an angle to raise the boom end when reefed
