For the Nordhsaven, it looked nice, but as mentioned the spaces were somewhat broken up. Did I miss it: there appeared to be no sea berths? When you're on the wind, where does one sleep?

I think it's the lack of meaningful/affordable used market is the culprit. As there are initially few of those compared to traditional sailboats, the ones which are offered used and in good condition are scooped up quickly. Probably even the ones in so-so condition are quickly sold. So you don't have a situation similar to a used sailboat market where a buyer can more or less pick and choose and then haggle to his affordable price knowing that there are many more around the corner to choose from.

I have yet to see a motorsailor/trawler type of the size, age and condition of any of the sailboats I owned for even close to these sailboat prices. And since most cruisers start with a used boat they can realistically afford these motorsailors are not in the running except for the very few. And then there are cats for those who want/need more space and don't mind paying for it. For them those motorsailors are not a good alternative as for that same $$ they can get a well appointed cat.

6kts usually dratically diff so this could be a great option for you

You don't have to give up on sailing ability to get a big boat with a pilothouse, a large engine, and huge tanks. Just get a Nauticat.

The styling is a little dated for my taste, but it sure offers a lot of boat for the money. Not as much real estate as a catamaran, but certainly more than most monohulls.

There's a reason why motor sailers aren't popular. They dont sail well and you have a motor boat encumbered with sailing kit.

Seems about as useful as a ferrari dump truck. Magic things that purport to do a little of everything often don't do any one thing well.

The concept of a motor catamaran is one I explored carefully for the Western Med. I see no drawbacks except for the fuel cost. In saying that, my budget does not extend anywhere near the figures Kenomac is looking at, so it would a smaller vessel and a more economical set of power units....

Given the nature of the seas and winds in the area, it would solve a lot of problems.

Standard fuel capacity is approx. 3,000 l. With the Long Range option (with an extra 1,900 l), the Lagoon 630 MY crossed the Atlantic in 14 days (Las Palmas to St Martin).

Be sure to talk with folks who have owned them and get aboard a few yourself, ie sea trial thoroughly. I've seen several people go there and then sell and go back to a monohull powerboat. Almost universally when asked they've said negative things about steerage.
