Mag Refers to CF and Zeehag

April Cruising World refers to a Zeehag post on Cruisersforum in their article on bottom paint. Interesting that a print mag is using an online forum as a reference, but giving an idea as to how many people are trying to stay with more functional bottom paints rather than using one person's online statement would have been more useful as research for a printed article.

Antifouling is both an economic necessity and a nuisance. Some sailors solve the problem in the way that Zeehag, a recent poster on Cruisersforum.com, does: He heads to Trinidad to use outlawed tributyltin. "Morally reprehensible?" he wrote. "Maybe. Functional? Yes."

He's not breaking any laws when doing that, right ? Just curious if the law is written in a way that could cause him trouble if discovered.

I guess it's nice they are mentioning CF. Maybe not such great PR for Zeehag, since they refer to her as a man.

Re: mag refers to CF and Zeehag

That doesn't sound like Zeehag to me. For a start, the grammar's fine. And for seconds, ain't Zeehag on the west coast, far far away from the Carib? And I'd also wager she's an environmental puritan.

Zee, am I right or wrong? In the litigious US of A, can I see a new teak deck coming your way?...

Just caught that. Seems to indicate that they read the forum rather than interviewing members.

Could the Trinidad references be about Anti-fouling paint:

Re: mag refers to CF and Zeehag

Is this as bad as it sounds?

A lazy, two bit writer thinks using Trinidad SR paint, sold in the USA is some kind of illegal offshore paint bought in Trinidad?

and calls HER a HIM?

Tell me this isn't what it appears to be...

Well, right after www.airliners.net started getting quoted & mentioned on the news, a big company bought them out. Hopefully that doesn't happen to us.

I think her punctuation is worse!

If that last one bothers you Zee, don't fret- you're in good company.
From fonts.com -

Timothy Dexter was a prominent citizen of eighteenth century New England, a businessman and sometime writer with a reputation as an eccentric. Dexter’s best-known book, A Pickle for the Knowing Ones, was remarkable only for its complete lack of punctuation. To its second edition Dexter added a page filled with periods, commas, semicolons and other punctuation marks, so that readers could, according to Dexter, “pepper and salt it as they please.”
