I've joined the ranks

I took possession of my first boat yesterday. 1986 Catalina 30, currently in Washington, NC. Not sure if that is where she will stay.

Anyhow, I am now among the ranks of those who no longer have extra money.

Congratulations! You picked a great first boat. It does everything reasonably well, and will be a great teacher for you. It has a pretty good layout too. In fact, I don't think I've seen a better layout on a 30 foot boat. More important, it sails well with no vices that I recall.

Congratulations and I wish you well. Fair winds!

A great boat. I've been a catalina dealer since 1994 and have personally sold dozens of Cat 30s and personally owned 3.
That's a good year with the bigger diesel motor. Everything is easy to fix and repair on that boat.

Make sure you recaulk the chain plates at the deck level every two years.

Congratulations hope you enjoy it. Curious where you may keep it. I am moving from Metro Maryland to Cary, NC this summer and see we’ll be 2 hours from Wilmington/water. If you bring it down I’ll volunteer as crew . I’m going to miss the Chesapeake being so close.

I too live in Cary and would love to have some crew.

It is currently in Washington, NC. 100 miles from Cary. Once I explore the area and see some other marinas, I might move it.

They say the two happiest days are the day you buy your boat and the day you sell.
Not true.
EVERY day on your boat is bliss!👍😁
