From not so Jolly Roger.

Nobody values this forum more than me, so I became a subscriber.
I also realize there needs to be revenue from adverts, but I’m beginning to get heartily fed-up with having that Cruiser’s Daily add’ constantly popping up, smack in the middle of something I’m trying to read.
I don’t want the Cruiser’s daily thank you, and they should make it so readers can permanently delete it if they wish.

I subscribed and I still need to delete it daily on one or two devices. Very annoying, especially on the cell phone.

Re: From not so Jolly Roger.

The worst is having to see popups of Flo trying to sell me Progressive Insurance. She is everywhere. TV, newspapers, magazines and now Cruiser's Forum. You can't escape unless you move to a cave in Tibet.

I can promise I will never, never, never buy Progressive Insurance. Not only are they beyond annoying but considering how much they must spend on advertising they cannot offer a good deal on their insurance.

Re: From not so Jolly Roger.

I don't see any popups. In fact, I don't see any annoying advertising here on CF. I run AdBlock and Ghostery to stop all this crap. On my pad I use Tapatalk, which has its own ads, but so far are not annoying. No popups.

I don't recall telling Adblock to block popups, but I never see them here using Safari.

I never understand why people don't pay attention to this and keep making these types of threads.

I see one pop-up but only if I re-login after login out. As long as I'm logged in and come back later no pop-ups.

I use Internet Explorer and Firefox to look at CF, whichever I happen to be on at the time. My computer is MS XP.

Re: From not so Jolly Roger.

I’ve just downloaded Adblock and it hasn’t made any difference to my CF screen. I still get the Cruisers Daily pop-up. What am I doing wrong?

You might need to subscribe to a list, or you might need to tell your browser to activate the AdBlock extension. Either way, read some of the steps here:

Re: From not so Jolly Roger.

Those who know more than me about IT stuff have steered me away from IE. I use Chrome instead, which might help with this problem. I don't get any popups.

Before I paid to subscribe and before the ads got too intrusive I didn't install ad blocker thinking it was only polite to CF since I was getting it free. Then I started paying and the ads became much more annoying so time to install adblocker on the new machine.

This does bring up a question. Do websites that depend on ad revenue to function lose that revenue to those that have adblocker or does the system not know if the ads are blocked or not?

Re: From not so Jolly Roger.

I use adblockplus on my windows 7 laptop , windows 8.1 tablet , never seen a popup . I have a small strip of adds on the right side of the page, top to 12in down that i don't even notice unless i look . My buddy has it on his Andriod tablet , works great . Set your settings correctly , has to do with ( cookies ) i think. just saying .
