Dinghy Chaps - where to buy?

Does anyone know where I can buy a set of Dinghy Chaps for a Caribe Dinghy? I have searched all of the obvious places online, but not come across any. These are very popular in the Caribbean, but not as popular here in the US. I am sure someone must manufacture these - I have seen plenty of articles on how to make them, but just don't have the time.

Thanks
Neil

My wife made ours, but if you are not so inclined, you likely need to contact your favorite canvas house

Thanks! I am trying to get my wife motivated to give it a shot. I am surprised that there does not seem to be someone out there that makes them. it may be a business idea!

Sail rite makes a kit and has a video on how to do it. My wife has them before and is about to make a pair for our caribe c10x. Canvas places here charge about 65 an hour so I imagine it would be costly to pay someone to do it. Even my wifes reduced rate it is still costly lol.

With the wide array of inflatable brands and sizes available, there is no way that would be a profitable venture for what amounts to a very time consuming, custom fabrication...

It can be a pretty involved job. I'd suggest using Stamoid for the material instead of Sunbrella, with all the cutouts and whatnot required, the fact that Stamoid doesn't need to be hemmed will save a huge amount of work... In addition, Stamoid will be far more durable, particularly in its resistance to abrasion. Also, it will not tend to 'hold' dried salt crystals as much as Sunbrella does, which if not attended to an given a fresh water rinse regularly, can amount to a significant degree of abrasion of the hypalon fabric. Finally, chaps from Stamoid will stow in a more compact package when removed from the dinghy than ones from Sunbrella...

You need sailor Sam.. sgentilejr@aol.com he's a retired little old man that makes anything you want for extra money.. I've had him make sail covers, replaced all the Windows in my dodger , repair stitching on sails, he'll make bags to put sheet lines in , make new life sling covers.. anything.. And he is currently going to make chaps for my caribe as well when he gets a chance.. his prices are extremely reasonable.. email him a sketch of what you need and he'll make it.. tell him Jason from knot smart referred you..
