Crazy hailstorm video

I have been in one bigger than this one, at night. Absolutely frightening. I had to let go the wheel and run to shelter myself under the spraywood...and I was lucky in Spain, that summer, in one occasion the hail was so big that passed through the cafe awnings and damaged car bodies.

Never been in one on the water, but got caught driving in one in Texas...totalled the car I was driving, I was worried the windshield was going to cave in, but it held. If you had been unprotected out in that one, it would have beat you to a bloody pulp.

Was in one like that in Oregon, on the John Day River. Came up the canyon at us, on us in moments. First hits left big welts just like a bad paintball hit; about marble sized with some even larger. Only saved by our tents which were already pitched. Both tents were basically destroyed in five minutes of hail, but saved us from a pulverizing. I'll never forget laying on my back in a tent holding the tent roof up with my feet as hail piled up 6" deep all around on the canyon floor. Hail drumming on the bottom of the boots was weird...
