Are you kidding? The Bumfuzzles are HOT. They are awesome. I want to be just like the Bumfuzzles when I grow up. They have the best ever sailing blog - if you haven't checked it out yet, then do it now!!!

Beautiful Boat, Beautiful Kids, Seriously lovely Mom. Great photos BTW...

I think the boat was priced "OK" and the money put in was well spent. I did not get a real good feel for how much work this young couple did themselves. Labor is such a huge part of a refit unless you do it all yourself. I hope to see them someday and get a better picture.

Re: Costs of the Bumfuzzle's new ride!

They were specifically looking for a Spindrift 43. The only one listed currently on yachtworld is one year newer (1983) than theirs, and the asking price is $135,000. They got theirs for $48k, and have so far spent about $40,000 in upgrades. They've got all the brand new instrumentation, equipment and upgrades that they wanted. Seems like a good deal so far.

They pretty much rock! Their VW bus adventure was very cool. When I was 20 I dreamed of taking a car to europe, after reading that makes me wanna put cruising on hold do land travels. Anyone with a unkind word for them is jelous. Who cares how they spend their money or if they even work for it. Last summer I hired a 20 yr old kid who eventually freaked out and yelled at me for his disaproval of my spending habits. He literally couldn't stand to see me buy cool stuff. Same with the bumfuzzles.

More costs figures for reference.

Cost « Sundowner sails again

I'd say the Bums are doing great. I can hardly imagine looking for a specific boat, finding it on CL, happening to have a friend to take a look, and finding it discarded by the owner but still in near sail away shape.

I think they were karmacally (that is now a word) due for a break after the hard and expensive lessons they got on their cat. I am happy they found the boat for them and happy they seem to be enjoying it.
