Bodrum or Marmaris or ??

Hi,

We’re planning on bringing our boat from the Middle East to Turkey to sell. Having never cruised in the region, any tips or recommendations on where to be based? Until the boat sells we’ll hopefully do a bit of local cruising, but primary reason is to sell.

Helpful comments gratefully received!

Re: Bodrum or Marmaris or ??

I would use Marmaris, flights from Istanbul are normally to milas and from there to bodrum by bus or cab, but most boats for sale are at turgutries or other marinas ,I’m not sure if they have a lift at Bodrum but they do at other marinas in Marmaris and turgutries, I’m unsure about howto fly to Marmaris but I would think they use Milas as well. milas to Bodrum is around 40 minutes by bus. Then another bus to milas or turgutries of about 40 minutes.

Their is a CF member in Marmaris. Who could help you wth this if he sees this post

Good luck it’s a beautiful area to visit and sail around.

Re: Bodrum or Marmaris or ??

Marmaris or Gocek.
Marmaris is the Turkish sailing center and has extensive yachting service industry.
If you decide on Marmaris you have multiple marinas to choose from. Netsel is in the city, but very expensive. Yacht Marina is a very nice and large marina with good services, but there are 4 or 5 other marinas in the bay.

Gocek is also a popular place and very beautiful.

the closest airport is Dalaman.

the marina in Bodrum is one of the most expensive marinas in Turkey. in the region of 120EU/night for a 36' boat! but you get to enjoy the mixed music from various bars and clubs during the night
