Anchorage for Annapolis Boat Show

I'm looking for recommendations for an anchorage for the boat show. I would need a dinghy dock to get to shore.

The boat draws almost 7 feet.

Thanks,
Duane

The issue at this point is going to be space. Spa and Back creeks are likely full. Weems probably full too. If you have a fast dinghy you might look into Whitehall Bay. Lovely spot but a bit of a hike across the harbor.

Annapolis has around 12 public dinghy docks so take your pick depending on where you end up.

Good luck! You might have to anchor by the Academy. Back Creek is likely full. Whitehall Bay and Mill Creek are options if you don't mind a long dinghy ride.

If you want to get away from the crowd Harness Creek off the South River might work.
Anchor off Quiet Waters Park- https://www.aacounty.org/departments.../quiet-waters/
They have a dinghy dock and it is a pleasant hike through the park to Bay Ridge Road near the Annapolis West Marine store.
From there a 10 minute cab or uber ride will get you to the show.

Anchorage for Annapolis Boat Show

I’m coming up Delaware Bay right now, headed to Annapolis but not for the show, just to pick up some stuff I ordered (new Firefly batteries among other things, yay) on my way south. Not sure where I’ll end up. Just have to poke around until I find a place.

Outside the outer Spa Creek anchorage, next to the Academy field is an option but it can get pretty rolly there. :/. That’s usually why there is space.

Harness Creek has some advantages, including not just proximity to WM but also Fawcett's... even though it's further away.

Carr's Creek, across the Severn from Annapolis, might be another option if all the other closer creeks are full. I can't remember typical depths back in there, though...

Lake Ogleton is an option at the mouth of the Severn River. Use water taxi service.

So I’m anchored out in the naval academy anchorage. Plenty of space left over and the wind will be light through the weekend so it’s not a bad place to be other than the occasional wake.

I anchored by the Naval Academy a few years ago and the bottom was like "plowed ground". It took several tries to get a good holding. I woke up around 2am and a good wind had piped up. There were a lot of boats dragging anchors. Luckily, I was in a good position where I was not in there path. I made sure I was ready the get out of there if I had to.
