Well put. I have been surfing my entire life and at the right spot 3' @10 seconds is all I need to have a good time. I wonder if these cold fronts pushing off the east coast have produced......
Www.surfline.com 's "best bet" for this month is the Caribbean.

I am planning a similar trip(also fully surf oriented). I plan to be in the caribbean for the winter of 2012/13.

Re: Surfing in the Caribbean

Nice info on the island side of the Caribbean, but, from what I hear the western side of the Caribbean is where you score winter surf.
Any thoughts, or comments?

Re: Surfing in the Caribbean

Anyone have specific info on the Bahamas?
I'm making the crossing in feb and trying to figure out some surf based routing. I know about the various breaks on Eleuthra, but would like to find out more or hear from someone with first hand experience.
I've heard tall tales of San Salvador absolutely going off...

I saw a lot of surfers on the south coast of St Lucia in January. Seemed pretty popular, with coffee shops and bars along the beach in what is other wise a very rural area.

Cruising World had an article about some surfers chartering a catamaran in search of surfing spots featuring Culebra (Spanish Virgin Island, part of PR).

Windfinder has wind and surf forecasts for quite a few locations in the Bahamas (and all over the World, for that matter).

Re: Surfing in the Caribbean

Some good websites in the replies, but Im looking for someone with specific knowledge of Bahamas surf. The swell is easy enough to forecast and track, but the trick is knowing the right spot(s).

Bocas del Toro, Panama. Popular surfing area and from there you can make inland trips to the Pacific side which has many surf spots...especially in El Salvador.

great shots! mind saying whereabouts you surfed? don't need to name spots, maybe islands or island chains

Scored in Eleuthera. Found a nice cove south if surfers beach that was offshore with se trades. Also scored RIDICULOUSLY good surf in the Exumas. Apparently the me swell can sneak in south of Eleuthera. Pipe Creek was wrapping 180 degree 6' hollow walls.
