Movie Theaters?

Okay this is corny in a way, ut I am a big Star Wars fan. Kimberly and I are planning on returning to our boat in the BVI in the first week of December. The movie comes out December 18. Is that theater in Road Town open and safe (I read someone was shot there back in June). Or even STT. Or, should we postpone if flights aren't more expensive that close to xmas? Or, are my priorities backward? LOL

Re: Movie Theaters?

The Road Town movie theatre is open and safe; probably safer at night than the areas around the theatres in Charlotte Amalie.

Please list the theater "areas" on St Thomas that show currently released movies and explain your conclusion that it's unsafe.
Typically we agree on most things but not on this. Perhaps you're mistaken or confused.

Re: Movie Theaters?

Rubikoop - The one I was thinking about is, I believe, close to where the BVI ferry arrives. While it is quite busy during the day in that area with all those shops and cruise ship guests it gets positively worrisome at night.

Movie Theaters?

After residing here for over ten years, I'm not aware of a theater downtown or in Redhook, the two ports where ferries land from the BVI.

The movie theater is adjacent to Cost U Less and in close proximity to the Home Depot. I don't know of anyone that would consider that area dangerous.

I wouldn't go wandering around downtown along the waterfront after dark!

Re: Movie Theaters?

Personally? For a movie like that I would fly back to the states to see it! It's worth the price of admission! You fly down there for a long weekend, get the boat back in the water and ready, then fly back to be with your wife and go see it.

Re: Movie Theaters?

Unless the movie has ONE WORLDWIDE RELEASE DATE, forget the theatres and find out what the release date there will be.

Or write to George Lucas about your dilemma, and you might find there's great publicity value to be had for all. And if not, he'll get a good laugh out of it anyway.

Maybe you can arrange for a private viewing at Rich B's house?

Ahhh, wonder what Lucas would think of that. That'd be a funny one for sure

Re: Movie Theaters?

OK, I "hear" that a movie is going to be released in the good 'ole USA on X date. Now, I know, for sure, that St. Thomas is part of the USA.

But, but, sputter......

I'm sure you are right and I'm misremembering - so I stand corrected!

Your innuendo is valid. Give this a try http://mobile.caribbeancinemas.com/index.php

Re: Movie Theaters?

Yes and no, as to the USVI being a part of the US.

"The US" generally means either the Continental48 or the fifty states plus DC.

The USVI is one of the 11 "insular possessions" which include war prizes like Puerto Rico, and they are not necessarily included in "the US" when it comes to geographic venues and distribution marketing.

Right or wrong, that's the way it is usually done. There's a good point to argue that the USVI is, after all, in the Carib and therefore is logically to be included in Caribbean marketing agreements.
