The Sail boat on Dead Calm movie
Hello All,
Has anyone watch the movie Dead Calm?
Can you tell me the brand/make/modle of the sail boat?
The first thing i seen was how the Bowsprent is below the deck line, never seen that before.

thank you for the info, i went to both sites and although they state that is the boat used in the movie it is not, unless they have changed the dinning table and removed the bowsprent.
In the movie you can see that the bowsprent is below the deck level also the dinning table was Gimbled on that site the table was not.
It really dose not matter, it was a great movie.
Thanks again,
John

Great movie..?
I thought is was depressing and it probably turned people off cruising forever.
(Good thing, more room and more anchorages for those of us that knew the film was bullcraap, just like the Jaws movie kept swimmers out of the water for many years)

Well I have always had the hots for Kidmen and the boat looked very nice also.
You do have to admit that something like that could happen.
Myself after the way the guy hit the boat with the Dinghy it would have been my first clue something was wrong.

Great question as I just watched that movie the other day mainly to remember what kind of boat it was. So this thread has GREAT timing!! Not to hijack your thread but on the same train of thought....
What's the boat in the movie Open Water 2. It's a great looking boat combining a modern hull with old world classic decks and cabins.. Been trying to find out but with no luck.. Anyone here has any idea??

lol I am downloading Open Water now should be done by morning. It was another good movie and goes to show how something as simple as not lowering a ladder can kill you.

Yah, I mainly re-watched those 2 movies within the last week as I was more curious as to what type of boats they were!! But that one in Open Water 2 really looks sweet to me!! Nice blend of both worlds..

Stormvogel has a pair of Nichole's knickers on display in their cabin to commemorate the filming.

As for Stormvogel, if you go into the 'events history' you'll find a bowsprit was installed in 1966, and it also notes participation in Dead Calm in 1987. The bowsprit was removed in 1991.

Hey, John,
Don't know about "Dead Calm", but according to something I read somewhere (that should nail it down for you), in "Captain Ron", only the external scenes were shot using the boat. All the belowdecks scenes were shot on sets elsewhere.

Well, anyone who has been down below on a sailboat (which is most of us) know that trying to cram a camera, lights, cast, director etc down below would be near impossible, so I suspect that's quite likely.
