Marinas in Fajardo PR

Hi All, wondering if anyone has suggestions for leaving our boat in the Fajardo area come August. We've put her on the hard in Puerto Del Ray before but this year we aren't interested in a 4 month stay which is their minimum during that time.
We're ok with a wet slip.

Thanks,

I suggest you reconfirm that will be/is the policy at PDR for the upcoming storm season. Once again they've had a change of management.

We did confirm. The management change was several years ago. We were there in 2014 for 4 mos.
any other thoughts?

In the water at Fajardo during prime hurricane season sounds risky to me. Is your insurance company OK with it?

Well we have a difference of terminology. Ownership did change in the timeframe you noted. The yard itself has gone through managers and policy changes numerous times per year since that time as they struggle to rebuild their reputation and regain lost customers. I took a dozen or so boats there in the past 12 months. The purpose of those trips were repairs and bottom jobs, no long term storage as their 4 month minimum wouldn't work. I was told from a contractor there that the "new" manager (as in been there less than 30 days) was changing some unpalatable policies. I was led to believe minimum storage time was to be one of many. I've not personally confirmed as other plans have been made at another facility and I don't see going back there for storage.

With that said, no, I don't have any good info to add for other on hard storage boatyards in the Fajardo area.

Good luck and please do post here when you do find a facility.

Villa Marina Yacht Harbour seems well protected. Not sure if any slips are available.

Do you have any personal info on Villa Marina Harbor?

We are looking at wet slips in Salinas(Marina de Salinas) and Sun Bay. Friends stayed in Salinas for several months and had good things to say. Though they were at anchor.

Right, I see what you mean about management. But my email from Liz, who we dealt also dealt with in 2014, says its 4 mos which is increased by 1 month since our last stay.

We will return as we have a warranty issue on our Sea Hawk bottom job. Eric Ramos is handling it. Once that's done we will go somewhere else as 4 mos is too long for us to be ashore.

Re: Marinas in Fajardo PR

You may want to check www.marinapuertochico.com . Haven't been there yet, plan to leave a boat there next month. People are easy to deal with on phone and price was a lot less than PDR or others I checked. They have slips and dry stacks as well,, but, only thing between you and an ugly storm is a seawall. Good luck, Pappy

Dale, While I have you. What approach into Fajardo do you advise when entering from SE, St. Croix. Would you stay to the north of Paliminos or slip in between it and Cayo Largo then circle around the north side of Islet? Thanks, Pappy

We go from Culebra to Puerto del Rey so have never sailed your route. But its always been a fairly easy sail South of Luis Pena then pick up a sighting on the buoys leading into the marina. Also thanks for the marina suggestions. I've been calling around. We'll decide later (as usual, )

All good suggestions. Right now we're thinking Salinas but who knows.
