How long to Myrtle Beach using ICW

Doing some prelim planning and was wondering how long it takes to get from Miami to Myrtle Beach using the ICW. I will be leaving Miami thru the cut and entering at Ft. Lauderdale. We will be traveling everyday. I figured roughly three weeks. How close is that estimate? Thanks guys and gals...

Re: How long to Myrtle Beach using ICW

It hugely depends on how hard you want to push and how fast you go under power. Florida has a lot of bridges to open, but as you get up into northern Florida and then Georgia they get few and far between. It is about 740 statute miles on the ICW between Miami and Myrtle Beach. Averaging 50 miles a day gives you some time to stop and enjoy some of the towns, so figure 15 days of motoring time. If you want to push you can shorten it.

Going outside on the way back down..Thanks Kettlewell for the estimate. I think I'll go ahead and plan for three weeks in case we stop for a few days along the way. I still remember dropping the hook in Marathon and saying we were staying for two days, three weeks later we left!

The nice thing about traveling in the spring is the daylight is more abundant(the flies can be too, extra swatters). If you want to stay somewhere you can(make up time another day), if the wind is right and you are on some the straight stretches you can sail. Three weeks is very doable. It is a nice ride-enjoy.
