Charleston Marina - June, July, August

We are just back from the Caribbean / Bahamas and are looking for a marina in the Charleston, SC area to spend a few months. Charleston is a convenient drive to our home (nearest place on the East Coast to our home in KY).

Any suggestions for a reasonable marina for a few months would be appreciated. Prices seem to be about double what we would pay in Florida or Virginia, and I just can't swing that.

Big limitations: 67 foot mast height, 6 foot 7 inch draft, 50 foot length, 16 foot beam.

Thanks in advance!

Guy I know here in L'ville keeps his 42' IP in a reasonable yard/marina in so. Ga. Further drive but probably lot cheaper. Could find out where if interested.

Cptn Happy - Always happy for information. Our initial thoughts are to find something in Charleston as it is close to Amtrack, commercial flights, and the interstates. And we like Charleston. We just don't like it $1500 a month worth. Not even close.

St Simons or Brunswick GA are worth checking out. Wilmington, NC area?

You might be interested in Cooper River Marina, located just north of the Cooper River Bridge. Posted rates are $15/foot for transients, plus $12.50/month for 30-amp service. They have extremely friendly and helpful staff, and the transient dock could certainly accomodate your boat. We've been there for about two years now and really like the location. If you decide to stay there, please look us up at slip A13 on the weekends. We're headed to the Caribbean at the end of the year and would love to pick your brains.

The marina's website can be found at Charleston County Parks and Recreation - Cooper River Marina.
