cell & wifi coverage in Exumas & Eleuthera?

Can anyone tell me as to how good the cell & wifi coverage is in the Exumas & Eleuthera. Where is coverage available & what cell carrier is best to use?

Cell coverage is good in both. Wifi is another matter. For best cell coverage get an unlocked GSM phone and buy a Batelco sim card when you get there.

Do the marinas have free wifi if you are staying there?

Don't usually go into marinas but the answer is no.

Yes most of the marinas have wifi if you are staying there. They provide guests a password.

We went to several marinas in February, generally you could "purchase" WiFi for $10 per day, but it never reached to the boat and was generally a waste of money.

The only "free" wifi left that I know of is a couple of spots in Abaco and one little spot in Nassau Harbour. As you said most charge $10 a day for iffy wifi. And no refunds!

The bahamas telco web page says you can get internet for $30/mo but no mention of how much data is included. We're headed to Abacos in Jan

I saw several people using their WIFI computers outside the bar of the Staniel Cay Yacht Club in May:

Seems like a better spot to do it than some sterile Starbucks.

WiFi is available in the Exuma Park area for $10 a day for paying guests of the park. We picked up free WiFi around Spanish Wells.

Staniel used to have free wifi but a few years ago they switched to Exuma wifi, about $10 a day. Sampson Cay used to have free wifi too but, again it's a pay system now.

The Starbucks in Nassau on E. Bay St. gives you an hour if you get a coffee.

Pay per day in warderick wells but service was slow. Could not make reliable Skype calls. OTR convenience store outside Nassau yacht haven had free service. Friend of mine even picked it up from his boat about 200 yards away.
