New Marina in Kas, Turkey

Hi all,
We are looking for anyone who has actually been in this marina since it opened at the beginning of the month. We wonder if it appears there is good protection year round with only the one breakwater...any talk of this?
Thanks much!

I was close with this marina in April. I stood on anchor. My opinion that nobody can say it's quiet place or not in winter season. We will learn it in 2012

Watch this space. The first of the dreaded North Westerlies are due this weak. Fortunately only expected to gust 13 to 15 knots. Also Google .... Facebook - Kas Marina Liveaboards .... for pictures.

They still have a 1 for 2 year price going on now- you pay for 1 year and get the second year free- its a very nice area!

Hi !
Does somebody is SURE about that ?
It looks like each year this kind of rumours (about blue card) appears on the web....
I have friends who are living aboard in Turkey and they say " do not mind"...
The same for taxes...

I was in Marmaris, in October and Yacht Marine was broadcasting on the net each day that we needed the Blue card and that it was enforced in at least one area (Gocek I beleave)- I never had anyone ask me for it ..yet

EDIT; This is all that Google turns up for Noonsite;

http://www.noonsite.com/Members/sue/R2009-11-11-4

Interestingly it appears to be a hash of stuff from 2010 and supposedly something more recent from "Levent Ballar, General Manager of the Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association (TURMEPA)" (albeit the official notice is not included).

FWIW, they are inferring that "Grey Water" must be routed to the black water tanks, and that "Waste Water" is defined as "black water, bilge water, ballast water, and sludge". Does this mean that shower water, sink water, etc... is not considered as "Waste Water" and therefore isn't "Grey Water" either?

Wonder when they'll realize that the fish farms, and chemical run off from fields are a bigger source of pollutants than the maritime industry?

PT.

Re: New Marina in Kas, Turkey

Blue card has been introduced in Gocek/Fethyie and Gokova bays only. They don't reinforce it for private yachts yet:

[from noonsite]
Quote:
From Bodrum to Fetiyhe/Gocek, a new "Blue Card" scheme is being implemented to prevent the discharge of both black and grey water. Blue Cards are freely available from marinas in the Marmaris area, as are booklets explaining the scheme. Charges are made for pumping out. The Blue Card Scheme is up and running if you want one but will not be enforced for yachts until 2012 at the earliest.
Milta Bodrum Marina and Marmaris Yat Marin don't have Blue cards for sale yet [as of 3 weeks ago] and don't know when they'll be getting them.

You "can" get a residence permit if you like, but easier (in terms of taxes, documentation and the like) to just take a day ferry to one of the Greek islands. Many people do such visa (and pork, alcohol, and sigarette) runs.

Re: New Marina in Kas, Turkey

We were in Marmaris earliar this year and rode our motorbike to Kas to check on a slip. I emailed them three times and they never replied. When I arrived I showed them my boat documentation and their one month slip price for our 48' boat was 1100 Euros. We decided to remain in Marmaris.
