Harbour fees in Greece or Turkey

Hello...My name is Benny. I am brand new in this forum, But the site contains loads of good information, so I decided to join.
I am close in buying an Atlantic 55 ( 25 years old charterboat) for a Living When I retiré in probably 2 years.
Until then, I need a safe and not to expensive Harbor?
I Would also be happy, if any of you know the boattype and sailing performance?

Hi Benny,

Are you buying a boat that you will not use for two years ?? or you will occasionally use until you retire and then you will live aboard ?

Regarading the harbour marina cost, if the price is major issue, Greece (w/out mentioning the new taxe that everybody talks about) would be the cheaper. If you need some work to be done, than probably Turkey is the best option.

Many thanks for your reply and your informations. Yes I have earlier heard, that the workmanship in Turkey is good quality.
I am Port Manager in a combined traffic- and yacht harbor in Elsinore, Denmark. In the 80 and 90-ties I was captain on bigger yachts w.w. and is planning to retire in 1 - 2 years.
I am currently looking on an Atlantic 55, and find it very nice as a live aboarder, combined with at bit of charter, and I am very keen to get information about sailing performance ect.
I have got one offer from a marina in Greece, but it was way to high 11.000 euros/year.
In my harbour the dues will be 3.630 euros/year.

fist of all the atlantic 55 are a good yacht but found the (49 ft slightly better i use to own one )
as for marinas in greece only up around the Ioion are fairly cheap here on Naxos they are taking on 1 month to 12 month contracts for around 3000 euros why not check out k&G med marinas for price comparison and on syros as well one thing about keeping a yacht on a island you only pay 16% vat against 23 for mainland

Benny, if you are still considering Turkey as well as Greece, take a look at Kusadasi Marina (Setur Marinalar).

I guess you'd probably be looking at around €6,000 for an annual berthing agreement for a 55 footer, but the facilities there are infinitely superior to what you'll find in any Greek marina and the workmanship is better and cheaper if you need any yard work done. Nearest airport is Izmir for flights from Denmark.

Turkish is easier to learn!

Here is a good site I came across with info on harbors in Turkey. One of the posts lists recent fees and specials that are being run. I hope to end up on a yacht in Turkey in the future as well. I absolutely love the place.

Have you tried Setur Kusadasi? According to my calculations, you'd pay around €6,082 annually.

The prices you quoted are very high. I can assure you a berth in Marmaris for 4.125€ / year, electricity and water included. Marina fees are exempted of VAT in Turkey.

Hello Yeloya.

Many tanks for your reply. That is the absolute cheapest fee I've got until now. Besides that, I've found out, that the Atlantic 55 is not 16.5 m., But only 15 m.
Funny enough!! Of cource is is because they are charterboats, and therefore no skipper certificate is needed according to legislation.
I will take a decision next week. Very close to buy......
