Re: lithium battery source/price thread

Instant disqualify, cheating lying scammer.

Report him immediately to eBay or his future victims are on you.

Re: lithium battery source/price thread

So what was the scam? I'm not trying to be funny, I told him that I was totally cool with paying him more for shipping but we have to go through eBay. He sent me a couple snarky comments and then cancelled my order. This is a seller with 100% approval rate... During this purchase I had to deal with the scammer Wells Fargo who tried to rip me off for $38 for this purchase! After an hour and a half on the phone and four transfers to speak with different people, (literally more time on hold than talking) which I was repeatedly told they are not seeing the emailed fee that was sent to me.... Anyway I'm back to square one, no batteries no fees

I'm not sure... I feel like CALB is a pretty safe bet, and I'd probably rather just insist on all the cells coming from the same shipment produced on the same run at the factory. Sort of the inverse of the devil I know versus the devil I don't.

There's definitely no way to know for sure, unfortunately. Buying raw cells implies to some degree self-insuring against a disaster that happens a year or two down the road.

I think I mentioned before that I had two cells misbehaving on delivery in my order of 112. One measured low right out of the gate and looked like it might have ~50% SOH. The other performed fine electrically but had a blown electrolyte overflow gasket and showed some signs of leakage, so it was a no-go.

I didn't even bother trying to get China to send me replacements. I just assumed there would be some damage and ordered spares.

This is one of the (few) advantages of using smaller cells: I carry four spares on board with me, and they don't take up much space (or $) buried in a box somewhere.

Re: lithium battery source/price thread

Oh, one last thing I confirmed when I talked to ECPC: whatever the brand, they will immediately replace a DOA cell with another from their stock. The stuff I wrote above applies to some kind of failure down the road.

Re: lithium battery source/price thread

Yes carrying a few spares is a good plan.

Re: lithium battery source/price thread

Note that a cell testing as an outlier, say much lower capacity than the rest

is not a DOA cell.

They state they will replace a defective cell as well. As any good retailer should.

Winston single cell voltage is 3.2V.
For example, a 3.2V100Ah cell price is USD100.
3.2V 200Ah USD200.
Shipping not included

Winston does not have 500Ah single cell, but I understand you may intend to figure out roughly cost after shipping included. It will be around 1.2-1.3USD/Ah in this case.
