update 15/9/17 from

ShelterBox Hi Alastair, the situation on the ground is fast paced, and therefore rapidly changing, but the latest update is that we have a team on its way to distribute aid in St Kitts and Nevis. We also have a team in Barbados working on the complex logistics of getting aid to the families who desperately need it, a team heading to the Dominican Republic where we're planning to provide another 500 ShelterKits, and a fourth team travelling to the British Virgin Islands.

borders are open but only if you have the correct residence papers

Marines of the Netherlands and France territories are stationed at the island's borders,

If you do not have a Dutch Passport you cannot cross over to the Dutch Side..

If you do not have A French Passport you cannot cross over to the French Side.

A quick update from Anguilla. The clean up progresses rapidly. Supermarkets, hardware stores and banks are open or partially open.
Roads are open.
Power cabling is being repaired with priority to hospital and Corito fuel base.
Digicel came up so we have data over most of the island.
A couple of restaurants opened, Roys in Sandy Ground seems fully operational.
Mary's bakery is feeding a large number of people.
Highway tyre is repairing tyres.
The mood is generally optimistic, everyone is friendly. No looting or robbery beyond a little opportunism.

thats great news do you know if any of the ferry links are running to st martin, the island has been in lockdown whilst all the non residents were evacuated, and are still not allowing residents to return from overseas so as not to waste resources in the aftermath of irma

There is no ferry service. St. Martin is on lockdown.
We advise anyone who is not here to stay away. There's nothing you can contribute except money.

Re: sxm/anguilla rescue and evacuation information

closing this thread now, hope it helped!,i hope valuable lessons were learnt by various governments regarding communications.....or lack of them ,post disaster .
kudos to those on social media(facebook/groups) and local radio who stepped in to coordinate assistance for nearly a week whilst the government who had no plan in place was uncontactable for nearly a week following IRMA

From Mike Granger:
About 9,000 evacuated after Irma,
flights back into the island soon
Minister Responsible for Civil Aviation and the airport Mellissa Arrindell-Doncher on Sunday reported that almost 9,000 people have been evacuated from St. Maarten after the passing of hurricane Irma. The Minister has been present at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) almost every day to assist in the coordinating of the evacuation flights.
As of Sunday, September 17, the Dutch Military moved 1,569 people to Curacao, the US military moved approximately 1,800 people, evacuations using commercial aircraft were approximately 4,000 people (including private charters), about 600 people were moved by Royal Caribbean cruise liners Majesty of the Seas and Adventure of the seas as part of the company’s humanitarian relief. Military aircraft from Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Canada and France also moved nationals of those countries totaling approximately 500.
The Minister explained that as the relief flights are beginning to slow, government will look to announce when residents abroad can return home as well as the re-commencement of Commercial flights into the island.
“It was quite an exercise assisting with the management of evacuation flights as well as the arrival of relief and humanitarian efforts into St. Maarten. Lessons were learnt and will be applied in future disaster/emergency situations. There are many people, airport personnel, police, immigration, customs and Marechausee who dedicated hours upon hours on PJIA to ensure that the logistics and movement of people was as manageable as possible,” she said.
