Re: Seeking 65 to 80ft unfinished hull

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for the great responses.
To reiterate/respond:
We are indeed looking for a fiberglass or aluminum, or perhaps steel hull.
50 feet would be bare minimum.
I've delivered sailing yachts up to 75 feet and I feel this is really the ideal size required for stores, cabins, walkaround engine room, tankage, decent access to sysytems, aworkshop etc.
that said, yachts differ greatly in layout and I'm not going to rule out any good possible candidates! So keep suggesting anything you feel is a good prospect

Oh, and in re the cost of a hull: it's the toxicity I am interested in avoiding.
I am proficient with glass, but to build an entire hull would be nasty!

Not entirly sure what the status of this one is ,bit more than a hull I think;
Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding - Lyman-Morse 70' Performance Cruiser - Thomaston, Maine

it has been on their brokerage page for ages now.

Another fancy name and a fancy designer;

Do people not read these posts before responding?
The only other contender would be the Dutch vessel (I didn't see a length given). Beautiful looking boat, but can the OP afford it? Speaking as 'we' who have completed boats from a bare hull/deck assy. the hull is the cheapest part of such a project.
and your only posts to this thread are to berate others who posted boats? ya, you need a life, get a hobby.

I built on from scratch. Nasty is the sanding/grinding. Doing it in 90 degrees you wear two things shorts and a mask. Bathe in acetone and a cold shower.
Trying to keep it out of clothing is a lost cause.

Re: Seeking 65 to 80ft unfinished hull

Two more listings I came across..

Both of these can be gutted to make a new interior, but at least you'd save a lot of $$ on masts, rigging, sails and other things.

Re: Seeking 65 to 80ft unfinished hull

Thought it was just what you were looking for...Was going to suggest a aluminum
hull, moored just outside Mamaroneck harbor in western Long Island sound, that
was maybe a tad bigger than you were looking for. However...
turns out hull is 150' !! Has been there for a few years, was being built by Tyco exec.
Dennis Kozlowski until he became a guest of Uncle Sam for a while.
...could set up a real nice workshop!

Re: Seeking 65 to 80ft unfinished hull

I thought about 'shades of Blue' tied up in Ladner Harbour, German engineering. owner to old to sail...has been round the world and all ready to go again. It sure looks very big but upon checking only listed at 54 feet. SS4537 - Shades of Blue Details - Pacific Boat Brokers Inc.
Asking $295,000. Canadian. but that is probably close to only $219,000 USD. you couldn't buy a quarter of a 65 to 80 foot boat for that. and be sailing immediately
