Here are detailed specifications for the vessel. Note the upgrades and replacements of equipment, lights, and electronics. The owner has a passion for improvements, clean installations, and systems that work flawlessly. Some things are readily apparent - B&G Zeus 2 chartplotter and 4G radar, Vesper AIS, Icom VHF - all equipment that the owner considered "best in class" when it was installed two years ago. Yamaha High-Thrust outboards (2012) with dual tachs in custom nacelle; Stecktronics masthead LED NAV/anchor light and the original bow and stern mounted NAV lights replaced with sealed LED (use masthead offshore, and lower-mounted lights inshore and ICW); Alpenglow LED lights in salon (dual power, night vision) and berths. The owners came from a background of eleven years of Corsair trimaran racing, and purchased Jumanji wanting a change of pace into a boat more comfortable for weekend trips, but also still have good sailing characteristics. Adjustable jib cars, full-width main traveler, upsized mainsheet blocks, Cunningham, dual steering wheels – all of the controls are there to effectively trim and steer on all point of sail. Albeit Jumanji is not as fast as her Corsair tri predecessor, she does sail extremely well. She has won numerous bay race cruising class trophies. In 2010, Jumanji took first place Multihull Division C in the Harvest Moon regatta – a 150 nm long offshore race in the Gulf of Mexico. That started as an upwind race in moderate winds, and finished double-reefed beating in 32 knots true wind. The first cruise multihull boat to cross the finish line was a Bahia 46, followed only 15 minutes behind by the 33-ft long Jumanji. Several times the smaller boat punched into large waves, which washed over the hard top and drained quickly from the back – while the crew watched from the dry safety of the salon and canvas extension. A Maine Cat 30 with oversized sails started very fast, but turned into disaster when the conditions worsened and waves washed out the eisenglass windows, leaving her crew wet and exposed. Over one-third of the fleet abandoned the race. Jumanji showed her Aussie build – stiff boat, large mast, hard top salon surround – could stand up to the Gulf of Mexico as well.

Here are some pictures of the sail inventory. The main and jib are made of Pentex laminate by the Barracouta loft in Austrailia – a loft chosen for their experience building competitive Seawind catamaran sails. The jib was only recently put in service, having used the original Dacron jib prior. A Barracouta asymmetric spin is in new condition, and effective for 90-120 deg apparent wind. A large UK symmetric spinnaker is used for deep, downwind sailing. Both spinnakers have ChuteScoops for single-handed hoist and dousing.

Although Jumanji has won her share of racing trophies, she really is set up for cruising. (Forget what people say about their boat not needing to sail fast, because they “are just cruisers”. A boat that sails fast enough to make it to the next landfall before dark, is a better cruising boat!)

In 2016, her owners – who had previously never spent more than two weeks aboard – took Jumanji on a 4+ month cruise from Texas to the Bahamas, crossing over into Bimini and working as far south as Georgetown before heading back to Texas (wanting to be back home before hurricane season!) Most of the time was spent in remote anchorages, and the Kyocera solar panels and three-stage MPPT controller and monitor, and AGM batteries provided all of the power needed. (A Honda 2000 generator was carried but only used once – to run the air conditioning at anchor for a night.)

Refrigeration (deep counter refrig and separate freezer) is very efficient ICEER brand, and all but a few of the interior lights have been changed over to LED. Battery amp-hr drain from overnight usage was typically fully-replaced by noontime. Hot water is provided by Bosch on-demand unit (propane), and the topside bbq pit (an Aussie griddle) is a dream to use in the open air, covered by the salon top canvas extensions.

Jumanji is equally-equipped for marina stopovers, with shore power system, three-stage battery charger, and 110V outlets. A Dometic 8k BTU air conditioner in the owner’s hull provides for cool sleeping quarters and some overflow to the salon. Insulated Sunbrella hatch covers, salon window snap-on sunscreens, and rollup Sunbrella extensions provide shade at anchorage.

Here are some other exterior pictures, and of the instruments. The Icom VHF is within reach in the companionway. The tachs are in a custom nacelle, and are very handy for assuring the motor speeds are synchronized when motoring long distances. Both motors were replaced in 2012, have both electric and pull start (backup), have 620 hours, and are well-maintained with complete service and fuel/hour records. Cumulative lifetime fuel burn is 0.81 gal/hr, and cruise at approx. 5.5 knots at 3500 RPM, and maximum 7+ knots at 5,200 RPM. Water pumps were replaced in 2016. Here is a pic of the motor being flushed, and motor box (closed). There are two outboards - one on each side - that make the boat a dream to maneuver in tight spots, as it will almost turn a circle in its length.

What really sets the Seawind apart from other cruising cats its size – aside from sailing ability – is the large salon, aft deck and targa seating area. (Jumanji had as many as 14 people onboard at anchor, while serving fajitas and refreshments, and it didn’t seem crowded. The drop down stairs on the front, and the ladder and stern shower on the rear are a real hit with swimmers – especially the kids!) There are canvas panels that extend from the targa to the solar panels and provide shade for the entire aft section. There are also two hatches in the salon hardtop, and Jumanji has snap-on shade screens for all salon windows, as well as black-out Sunbrella covers for the front windows. (And in the winter, there are eisenglass windows that snap in the openings above the steering station, and a canvas drop-down to completely enclose the salon.) The targa seating is popular at both anchor and while sailing, as it provides a view both left and right, as well as a clear view forward thru the salon windows.

Down below, Jumanji has the four-berth layout (plus the table dropdown that makes into a berth - especially nice on overnight, two-crew passages). The port hull has a spacious head for a yacht this size. Showers are virtually unlimited with Bosch hot water on-demand. Owner’s double berth has a large amount of storage in cabinets underneath. There is a hanging locker (left), and two more cabinets (right), as well as a v-berth forward. The cabin is well-lit and ventilated (with two hatches and two fans), and as mentioned before is air conditioned.

The starboard hull houses two additional berths, and the galley. The aft cabin has a closet, ventilation hatch, window, two fans and a door. The forward v-berth has a large hatch overhead, window, fan and lighting, seating, closet, and a privacy curtain. There is a huge storage volume under each berth, especially handy for storing extra paper and canned goods, beer and soda, spare parts, etc., when extended cruising. The galley has a combination stove and broiler, a deep refrigerator and separate deep freezer in the counter. There is ample storage in both upper and lower cabinets. Full-length windows and large overhead hatch make the galley feel much larger. There is a Fusion stereo with XM satellite and speakers both topsides – in the salon – and in the starboard hull, to enjoy music while preparing meals, etc.

Note there is also a small, fold-out table forward of the galley, with seating. This could be used for eating, or a navigation table. However, what we found during cruising is the joy of eating in the salon topsides, with a 360 deg view. Also, while cruising we spread the charts and guides on the salon table, all within easy reach for navigation.
