Suggestions for Corpus long weekend

We are considering driving to Corpus (from Houston) to charter a sailboat for a long weekend, perhaps in early October (after the heat has started to cool off, and before Harvest Moon). Any suggestions on destinations for a long weekend out of Corpus?

I have been looking for a good cruising guide (they have served me well in other areas), but I am struggling to find one for the Corpus area that looks good. I see mention of Cambells...but it seems to be 12 years old, out of print, and quite expensive. A good recommendation for an information resource would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

Campbell's is still the best. Might also try Active Captain.

Long weekend is how many days? From CC, the best places are Ingleside Cove (most any weather), Port Aransas (pier), Lydia Ann Channel (tide change can be unnerving, and if you drag anchor, you slide across the alternate ICW), and Mud Island, across from Rockport (NOT good in a norther). Shamrock Cove looks great on the charts, but with too much south in the wind, it becomes wide open. Flato Cut is great, if there are no mosquitoes. We go to Flato in the winter...

Stray Cats out of Port Aransas would be a good resource. They have a Gemini Cat for charter and are knowledgable about the surrounding area.

Any more suggestions?
I plan to sail there in October or early November.
