Xantrex Link 2000 - Reading 2 banks when I only have 1

I have a Xantrex Freedom 2000 inverter/charger with a Link 2000 interface.

For the past couple years the system has worked very well recording seemingly accurate amp hour measurements. Recently however, after 5 month storage, the system seems to be acting up.

Despite the fact I only have 1 house bank of batteries the system is now recording current into and out of 2 separate battery banks. For example when I'm charging from solar the Link 2000 interface shows positive current into my 1 bank of batters and also into a second bank of batteries that I don't have...

The resulting issue is that the recorded Ahr measurement continually declines, despite the fact that the battery is recharged almost every day. For example in a given day if I used 200 Ahr of power and fully charge batteries and put back 200 Ahr of energy from my solar system system the Link 2000 interface records a deficit of anywhere from between 100-150 amp hours on bank 1. Over time the interface shows a larger and larger deficit despite the fact the battery is fully charged each day. The voltage reading seem correct and indicate fully charged batteries. I haven't been able to find anywhere on the forums or in the manual a fix for this peculiar behavior.

Any advice on how I can set the system back to recording on 1 battery bank versus 2? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you changed wiring or config settings?

We have the same setup. Bank 1 is our 3 house pairs and bank 2 is our two optima start / windlass batts.

Our solar and wind contribution are viewable on bank one only.

No, I didn't change anything that I can think of. I just started to notice that my Ahr was depleting when the battery should have been otherwise charged. All other indications are that battery is full. I notice when drawing on the batteries there is a current draw recorded on both banks on the Link 2000 interface, even though I only have the one bank....

Check all connections, corrosion can cause stange magic to occur in electronics. Could it be a failing cell, in the bank? Have you had an unintended electronics assistant? What has, "customer support," said about the issue?

RTFM. Really. It covers just the info you are asking for.

Do you have the manual?

If not, it is available on the Xantrex website, under discontinued products.

the link 2000 must be setup to monitor 2 batteries otherwise it will just error. either you can read 2 different batteries or it can be setup so both monitor the same one. both readings would always be the same. if you are getting different things then something is wrong.

Re: Xantrex Link 2000 - Reading 2 banks when I only have 1

From the manual wiring instructions:

If only one current input is required, connect the green and brown wires together and the orange and yellow wires together. This hookup will display the same current information for both the battery #1 & #2 selection.

To the OP, you say it used to work and now is not working.

1. Are you sure it was correctly hooked up before?

2. Have you checked the wiring recently?

Stu, Thanks for the info. I haven't touched the wiring it worked 100% fine until the boat was left in the marina for 5 months. When I got back the weirdness started. I'm going to check to see if a wire dislodged. The output on the two banks is different.

Stu, I combed over the manual at length and couldn't find any settings that helped. I'm usually fairly good at troubleshooting these issues, but this one has got me stumped.
