Need help from Xantrex Link 2000 expert

Hi. I seek wisdom and guidance.

At some point, my boat was equipped with a Xantrex Link 2000R system. The ideal regulator, shunts, and control board remain, but the inverter and display unit have been removed by a previous owner. The inverter is not an issue (it has been replaced with a newer Xantrex that can be operated from the panel on the unit itself), instead my question involves the display unit.

Since the regulator seems to be working correctly, can I assume that the control board is OK and only have to find a replacement display unit to regain all the battery monitoring functions?

Would I need a Link 2000R display unit specifically or could I use any Link 2000 display unit?

If I opt to install a different battery monitor in place of the Link 2000, are the shunts to the batteries which are connected to the control board necessary for the ideal regulator to continue to function properly?

I would hate to replace this system with all newer stuff if simply plugging in a new display unit would allow me to monitor the batteries.

Thanks for your insights.

Yep, find yourself a 2000R display and away you go. The shunts are not unique to this model. Good Luck!

The Link 2000 does not have the interface for the external alternator, therefore, you need a 2000R. Not many of these left around. I still have a 2000R system in a box, FWIW.

Re: Need help from Xantrex Link 2000 expert

More specifically, I was wondering whether the display/buttons portion of the system is different for the Link 2000R or whether any Link 2000 display would work. The controller board itself (that attaches to the display with a 20 pin cable) seems to be working.

Thanks in advance to anyone with this esoteric knowledge.

Link 2000 display

Yes, the Link 2000 display heads are all the same except for different overlays, depending upon the vendor (Mastervolt, Heart, Xantrex, etc.) and how they wanted the functions labeled. The electronics are identical. Be careful when plugging the head into the control board to not push it in too far so that the circuit board is not stressed when the two mounting screws are fastened. It is a tight fit.

Re: Need help from Xantrex Link 2000 expert

Here's the Link 2000R manual:

http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Dis...8vendor%29.pdf

It refers back to the Link 2000 manual for anything but the regulator portion.

You can find these manuals here at the Xantrex discontinued products website:

Discontinued Power Accessories

Good luck.

Re: Need help from Xantrex Link 2000 expert

Thanks so much for the helpful info. If I can find a display (of any variant) I can see if the rest of the system is functioning properly.

Rick - How much would you want for the system you have still in the box?
