Programming Max Charge

Greetings,
The Balmar Max Charge MC-612 regulator looks like it needs reprogramming and after reading the operators manual I'm going to make an attempt to program the unit mtself. I understand the theory on using a magnet on the Reed switch but expect it will take several attempts to get it right. Has anyone got any tips on programming this thing? Will the factory defalt setting be sufficient for the AGM batteries? I was told by a tech in the past Prg-5 would be optimum for my set-up. Any help would be appreciated.

stuff-PGM 5 is better than PGM 4 but it is not very aggressive and you can end up not driving the AGMs hard enough to prevent premature sulfation. Two questions: do you have temperature monitoring for your batteries and what type of AGMs do you have.
