New GFI circuit install, Batt 1 and all DC fail.

I recently purchased 1979 Endeavor 32. She has been suffering from neglect.

I am in the process of preparing her for the passage home. As the sun was setting and the temperatures were plunging, the CGFI failed and I lost shore power.

The following day I had a new commercial grade CGFI plug delivered. When I hit the sack everything was fine. I had both shore power and battery power. However the next morning battery number 1 was testing flat and I had no battery power - even on battery 2.

Did I smoke my charger? I do not have a multimeter onboard. The one I was borrowing will not be available. I am reduced to working with a test lamp. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a short or miswire of the shore power inlet. Any melted wires? or devices?

Thanks for taking the time brother. I got the load and lead black wires reversed initially, but quickly corrected the situation.

My focus has changed with the weather. There is rain moving in and I'm still sealing deck hatches. Thanks again. Got to go.

I'm very sorry I haven't kept you informed. The short version is the trickle charger failed and a light was left on. That drained both of the batteries. The batteries were very old and did not survive the experience. I replaced the charger and batteries. Problem solved.
