How old is old?

So I have a master plan. I am sure it is new and revolutionary. I am going to hunt for and buy a boat to live on for the next 10 + years and then go cruising south of here , which is western Canada. I will be cruising locally during that time.
My question is this. A lot of boats I am looking at are loaded with electronics , wind and solar generators which I will have no use for in the short term. My feeling is that if I get a boat with electronics and generator gear it will be out of date in ten years. Parts hard to find etc. Is this good thinking or am I out to lunch?

Re: How old is old?

My boat is nearly 30yrs same radio & radar main battery switches. Old stuff can be fixed new stuff through away. Be careful of adding electronics. Mark is still to write his electric repair book & I am sure it will be a comic!! G'day mark got your Anzac biscuits & flag out?
