I can't get a mental grasp of that connection. Did you take any pictures?

Me too! I pulled apart my Honda 2000 and don't recall any male to male plugs on the inverter module. I seem to recall the inverter had some multipin spade lug connectors in a plastic housings and I thought the inverter output cable was soldered to two posts. But, it's been a few months since I looked inside.
