Re: Lagoon 39

I can't wait to see what it weighs. The 380 is approx. 16,000lbs, the 400 approx. 23,000lbs. That's 5% more length for 44% more weight!! The new Lagoon models are getting heavier and heavier, for nominal increase in length. The old 47 and 57's are WAY lighter than the new comparable models. They need to go on a diet!!

One reason for the weight increase for the Lagoon's is not necessary in the boat lenght but on the increased in hull girth.

I disagree with your logic. Lagoon is building boats that are larger all around. Just look at a 380 next to a 400. The 400 completely dwarfs the 380.

That 400 is clearly taller, but is not much longer or wider. The margins I believe are very small in length and width. But this photo shows the real size difference - and it appears to be mainly in height.

Re: Lagoon 39

Lagoon 380 - beam = 6.53m
Lagoon 400 - beam = 7.25m
72 cm extra on the L400 (about 11% wider)

Does anyone know the volume of each hull on both 380 and 400? That should show how much bigger the 400 is over the 380.

From what I've seen, hulls of newer model Lagoons are becoming more voluminous. One of the many reasons they make such comfortable cruising yachts.

Re: The new lagoon 39

Thanks for the information. I have been looking a the lagoon 380 for a while but in Australia there is not much to choose from. The new 39 looks great. Cheers

Re: Lagoon 39

What do you think about the sharp edges of everything in L39?

I think it is being forgotton that this is a boat, and I consider them to be accidents waiting to happen to myself or my loved ones.

For us all the square/ sharp corners are a big negative, its bad enough sometimes will all curved/ rounded coners.

Too many bruises me thinks.

Re: Lagoon 39

Does this mean that they have been doing it wrong last 20-30 years and old cats like Prout were doing it right?
