Trans Atlantic Delivery

1978 Endeavour 37 located Fort Lauderdale.
New diesel engine, new fuel tank.
Recent survey.

Owner wants it delivered to Europe, preferably Norway, but other Northern or Central European ports may be acceptable if time is tight.

Looking for estimates for an all-included delivery.

Re: Trans Atlantic Delivery

Ok, will contact ya when I get home in a day or two, now in Rio.

The boat has been sitting for a few years, needs a tune-up and a sea-trial.
Hank-on Jib and in-mast roller furling for the main.

Minimal gear and stuff, may have to rent a raft, no dink.

The owner (not me) is looking at cost between sailing and shipping on a freighter.

Perhaps a bit late this year as the boat is not quite ready yet, needs a haul and some tweaking, but will leave that decision to an experienced off-shore skipper (Hurricane Season)

Re: Trans Atlantic Delivery

Still looking to get the boat over to Europe, but the owner is slow responding.
He had preferred putting it on a freighter but I suggested delivery.
Price is a factor, so is the cost of trans-Atlantic insurance.

The boat is being worked on, all items from the survey is now done, but still more to do as the boat is light on equipment, an autopilot or wind-vane would be a minimum, so would a raft and sat-phone, etc, but up to the delivery skipper, and some of that stuff can be rented.

Ideally the delivery skipper would already be in Florida and can stop by, inspect the boat, put together a list of equipment/stores needed, then give a price for delivery and expenses.

It seems the owner is not in a hurry and it is getting closer to the hurricane season, not sure how this will play out, possible freighter this year or delivery 2014..

Re: Trans Atlantic Delivery

Hi!

I am 23 and have been sailing for 10 years and am currently a sailing instructor out of Miami, FL. I have previously made one international trip from Miami to the bahamas for 2 weeks and am very excited to get more blue water experience under my belt!
I have a relatively flexible schedule and would like to hear more about trip details and the possiblility of joining the crew!

Hope to hear from you!

Re: Trans Atlantic Delivery

Hi Gbelle.

Sure, join in in the delivery, I am sure an extra hand is always good news.
So far I have gotten 3 or 4 estimates and knowing the owner, I am sure he will not pick the most expensive one. The boat is not ready yet, having the surveyor come later this week to sign off on the repairs, then a diver next week to clean the bottom, then have to arrange insurance, then deal with the non-survey related items, run the fridge, check all the systems, etc, etc.
I am not so sure this delivery will happen in 2013 due to the weather window rapidly closing, 'cane season and all, but ultimately up to the delivery skipper and the owner.

To all who have sent me Private Messages offering to take on the delivery, thx, much appreciated, I got the numbers now and have contacted the owner. He is slow responding and does not read emails often, will call if I don't hear from him.

Also, please send resume with qualifications and experience via PM.

Re: Trans Atlantic Delivery

Hi I'm based in the Med at the moment but am looking at going to Norway later in the year to buy a Colin Archer.
I'm Rya yachtmaster and have 30000 miles plus. Done 3 trans ats 2 westerly passages and 1 easterly solo passage. Im', 49 years old ex British special forces and can cope with just about anything.
I run a delivery company already at vastly reduced rates as I think some people charge way over the odds.
I wouldn't consider the delivery until after hurricane season is over but am happy to do it for 7000 dollars plus flights to the boat.
P.M.me if the owner is interested.
P.S. Price includes me plus 1 crew.
