I hope you have started the marina application process and have a billionaire backer. That part of Australia has enormous environmental and indiginous values and just the approval process would be extremely costly.

Some of the recently completed marinas on the east coast are in recievership so I would imagine a new marina in the most out of the way area of Australia in the middle of a cyclone area (had one there last week) could be a dream.

Unless you have enormous finiancial backing.

Good luck and execptional planning required.

Cheers

Re: I need a crewgirl

i hae not been there. i looked at the weather pattern and it indicated that brrome/derby were on the outskirts of the cyclonic winds?

i know broome is the most progresssively developing area in Austalia. that's why I wanted to go there.

sounds like the marina idea is not good?

I Need a Crewgirl

i have discovered that the broome marina idea is not good. see re-post below....

i am a fit & healthy, 60 yo retired sportspro, now operating a premium worldwide golf/pleasure travel & activities service. my crewgirl would be, or learn to be, my crewgirl on a voyage to australia from rockport texas jan 2014. there will be 4 people on-board, my female biz partner, a young aussie boytoy/crewboy and myself.
when in Australia, we plan to sail to tasmania eery summer. care to join us. the boat is polyamorous and "clothing optional" when at sea.

my company boat is a island trader 46 (overall 53') cutter ketch. i have replaced the original spruce mast and mizzen with aluminium and have restored the two furled head and stay sail cutter configuration. the boat has all the trans-ocean goodies and much much more........sportsbizpro [at} gmail "dot" com

through this year 2013, my ideal crewgirl would sail the gulf of mexico on weekends and through the weekdays, would help in my busy yacht office as my company's trainee executive assistant. all expenses pre-paid and a very rewarding profit sharing contract is offered.

Re: I need a crewgirl

I am not saying that the area could not use a marina just that there would be plenty of difficulties not the least of all the large tidal variation (up to 10 meters/ 33feet) there along with all the enviromental issues that go with developements in such an enviromentally sensitive area.

The tidal range alone would mean very high development costs and obtaining permits/land could involve a lot of difficulties/time/cost.

Kimberley Weather; Broome Weather

Go there definitely just saying that I am even more sceptical of your marina plans if you haven't got anything locked in and are just going to turn up on spec and do it. If that was to be a possibility you would need to be on a plane now to start the processes. With politics in Australia these days any marina development is like a red rag to a bull to our environmental activitists. It is a beautiful and developing area but a very enviromentally sensitive area.

Don't let me put you off but I thought the marina idea was an attention grabber not real. Then again, you may have a billionaire backer with the resources.

Cheers
