Author looking to hitch a ride.

Hello, I am writing a series of books on the Caribbean and looking for interesting people to help me in my travels. I will be living out of a backpack for several months in a quest through the islands. I'm looking for good people traveling from Island to Island that may have room for an extra body. Well then perhaps you are right. I haven't been published and this little adventure is just that. I hope to have two books published once the journey is complete though.

From what I understand from our rich (well off) friends who tour the BVI and the like--there is a plethora of people who get stuck down there without funds and can't get home...
Even our medium and low income boater friends tell tales of people trying to "hitch" rides and promising all kinds of things.
We are in Michigan on Lake Erie and you don't see it so much around here, but no one is dying to freeze their asses off in the winter...eeek!
Their boats break and they can't fix them, they hitchhiked with someone and got left behind, had a falling out, or ran out of money and were left there--or people just got tired of paying their way. From these we have to understand that you my dear, are only one of many looking to get too/from the islands. You are on a long list.
Also--you are responsible for everyone on your boat-felons-warrants-drugs-whatever...might want to put more about yourself in ur ads and a link to a myspace or something that shows you aren't a vagabond, but have roots and friends and interests somewhere.

I would think your best bet would be to start with smaller journeys that get you toward your goal of Caribbean. Make friends with boaters. Learn a valuable skill that would come in handy on a boat. Can you captain? Take anchor watches and drive at night? Cook, clean, batten down the hatches? Can you play guitar? Otherwise you are just a body taking up space and using up resources that can become a serious drain.
Also it sounds like ur dead broke and they would have to feed you and pay your way. If you don't have any use on a boat, and can't pay your way--you had better be damned good looking. LOL
Offer to fill a gas tank or two. Pay all marina fees? I mean something you know?
Oh and FYI--ur only an author is you receive monetary compensation for your writing. Otherwise you are a writer. But a writer knows only one thing--they must write.
Booksurge through Amazon makes it easy and cheap 99 bucks to self publish.. Just make sure you edit it thoroughly.
Finish a darned book already will ya? LOL

I don't know where you are from, but we are going to do The Great Loop to Florida and are seeking someone who is clean, can drive, and fill a gas tank or two to take with us, that will become independent as soon as we land at our position...fun and conversation type thing. with relatively clean record. LOL

A writer actually writes; whether credited or not (ie: “ghost” writer).
An author is responsible for, and gets credit for, the written work, and usually holds the copyright (if, somehow, published).
They are not always the same.
