Caliber 40 LRC

Our 2001 Caliber 40 Long Range Cruiser, Montamarol, took a lightening strike last August 2012 while on the hard in North Carolina and is now, following a major refit, offered for sale. A certified marine surveyor found her hull intact with the exception of lightening damage at a through-hull. This has been repaired and thankfully insurance has provided funds for a professionally completed refit.

Some lucky sailor is going to get a great deal because the refit includes the following items newly installed by marine professionals this year: standing rigging (including an insulated back-stay radio antenna), new Raymarine Radar and display, Chart Plotter, Wind/Depth Instruments, Autopilot control; ICOMM VHF with cockpit repeater, ICOMM SSB, with Automatic Antenna tuner, Pactor modem, WiFi Booster, Xantrex inverter/battery charger with remote monitor, Reverse Heat/air conditioning units in 2 cabins, Balmar regulator and controller, navigation lights, solar panels and controller, 3 new house batteries, Yanmar engine instruments and electrical system monitoring instruments.

In addition to all the new equipment, this vessel is also equipped with a Spectra water-desalinator, separate refrigerator and freezer each with own compressor, 2 burner propane stove w/oven, 170 gallons fresh water in 2 tanks, 200+ gallons of fuel in two tanks (enough to motor more than 1200 miles), a 100 gallon waste holding tank, two oversized anchors each with 200 feet of chain, Entec 4.5 kw generator, a full batten main with Tides marine track and cars, genoa and staysail both on furling, an 11 foot AB dinghy with 15 hp electric start outboard on Cato davits, Winslow 6 person life raft.

Montamarol is clearly equipped for long range cruising and is well suited to comfortable and self-sufficient living for weeks at a time. She single-hands very easily and is perfect as a couple-boat with comfortable accomodation for 2 adult visitors for extended visits. My wife and I enjoyed Montamarol over the better part of 4 years and 7000 miles in the waters of the US East Coast, the Bahamas, and the Greater and Lesser Antilles where the Caliber shallow draught and live-aboard equipment are well matched to cruising the Caribbean seas or further afield if you so choose.

Our current asking price is US $239,000. If you are interested in acquiring this fine yacht please send me a PM and I will give you the name and web information of our broker in Beaufort, North Carolina where she is currently lying ashore.

Thanks for looking and fair winds.
