Re: Alberg 30

Thursday bump..

I wonder if I'm running into a situation where she seems like a good deal and people might be thinking she's gone or will be gone by the time they could come look at her. I will post here when I have a deposit in hand (which I do not yet have). I do have what appears to be a very interested person coming back after seeing her once already, tomorrow for a test sail. Other than that, my next showings aren't for a two weeks or more and I am available to show her anytime before then.

Really need her sold, somebody come take this great deal already..

Great decision, enjoy and be proud of her. We are all mental with boats are we not?

Re: Alberg 30

Worth noting is that we were just about to get full asking price for her contingent on a survey. Had the person given us a deposit, she'd be gone already.

I have listed the items in other threads here that we are selling, either because we don't want them (composting head), or don't need (oven, vane). The tentative plan from here on out is to re-power her with an inboard over the course of the next year, and make her a really comfortable bay sailor - AC, fridge... the stuff I once poo pooed. That, or the alternate plan is I get committed to a mental institution for the nautically insane.

Whichever comes first, basically.

Two things that really caught my eye (always looking at boats in the 30 / 32 foot range as that is my slip limit) is the ores, and the heater.

You row that big yacht? And the heater is sweet! I have one in the very same place, that I removed and put a fridge and microwave in it's place.

Nice looking yacht, glad you are keeping her.

Re: Alberg 30

Those oars are the dink oars, HOWEVER.. we had (sold em) a set of 15' sweeps we picked up over the winter. I had planned on making some oarlocks with winch handle sockets that could make the winches double as the oarlocks for the giant oars.

I had planned on rowing her, until we went with the 2hp on a removable bracket. Again with the insanity theme here.. I like to be consistent.

Re: Alberg 30

Chris,

Join the asylum. We have plenty of room...the food is good and the company is well....crazy.

Glad to see you guys are keeping her and will use her on the Chessie. You will not regret that. You both should be proud of the job you did on her.

Also good to see that you can change your thinking. An inboard will allow you guys more freedom on the Bay and well refrigeration is comfort and does not constitute going to the "dark side"

I know we will get together by boat in the future.

Dave
