$500.00 Reward for Catamaran under $120k #2

Aloha All (from Jack & Nicole)

We are reposting this add it did really well last time. Thanks to all that contributed but we did not make a purchase. We did go and see a couple of cats but did not find the right one for us. So the $500.00 is still up for grabs.

**
We are a younger couple in our 30s looking to make the dream come true on a budget. We have been saving and planning for 6 years. We are now ready to set out on a 5 year down wind circumnavigation. I have been doing scuba instruction and captain work for the past 10 years. I will continue to do this as we do our circumnavigation. Nicole is a flight attendant with a lot of friends that fly for free, so we will also be*doing*light chartering. Nicole also writes and is working towards her dive master*certification.* *

So this is the part where you come in. We are offering a $500 reward to anyone that leads us to the catamaran we PURCHASE. We know 120k is on the low end for a cat like we want. The catamaran kitty did not grow as big as we hoped. So we are looking for one great deal on a catamaran.**We are hoping that someone out there knows of a cat that we have not yet seen on the web, as we are VERY familiar with the listings on the top fifteen or so websites.*

We don't mind a cat that needs work but the buying price would need to be less than 120K. We would do most the work our selves if possible. A cat that needs re-powering, sails and TLC would be fine. *
*
We are looking for something bigger than 36ft. and less than 45ft.
We realize that the budget may not allow us every feature that we want, but here are the ideal features we are looking for in order of importance: good bridge deck clearance, straight shafts, owners version, galley up and dagger boards. We want a low maintenance simple boat, but not a wooden boat.*Again, we know it may be nearly impossible to get every feature we want, but the more features, the better its a compromise. We really like the 39 Privilege, the TPI lagoons and the Admirals.

If you, yourself,*have a cat that is worth more than 120k and if you want to see it make a circumnavigation but you don't have the time or money and don't enjoy long passages, we may consider an agreement where the current owner would get some free charter weeks every year. This could be a great opportunity for everyone.*
**
We are not looking to have someone do a web search for us. We have been spending hours a day on all the popular web sites for more than 6 months. We are just offering a little reward if some one sees a cat for sale on their dock or anchorage.*

We are cash buyers and can travel just about anywhere today to see the right boat.*Please personal message any potential cats.

Well, thanks for reading and we hope to give you the $500 reward soon.
Jack & Nicole*

Ps: To the nay sayers, Yes we are 100% serious we will pay by cash, money order, paypal, cookies and hugs, or Rum your choice.

I was wondering what you had accomplished anything.

Too bad you missed that Privilege in Sarasota. There is a thread here somewhere.

OOPS! it is on another board maybe.

We are still on the hunt..

I know that sounded like a great deal A 43 privilege for 65K. I have been wondering how much they put into it to get it going. I have slapped my self for not catching that one. We where in ASIA when that deal came up.

So far -

Two rebuilt motors delivered.
Plans to rebuild cutlass bearings.
Cleaned and restitched genoa.
Replace upper roller furling bearings.
Replace main since cover was not closed for a couple of years.
Bottom job. Multiple old coats on bottom now.
Generator rewind or replace - to be determined.
Don't know what he actually paid either.
What a deal!

Seems like a great deal with newer power??? Why aren't you interested?? Aside from sail drives and what seems like smaller cabins and galley than our 32 lol.

That is exactly the reason, for their length they have narrow hulls. But that is why they are fast. It is all a compromise. We are thinking about a 1990s 39 privilege right now. We will see how it goes.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Aloha Scoobert

Thanks for the cats, The wild cats are a bit small for us. I know they have circumnavigated but we are wanting a longer water line.

I saw the 37 lagoon come on the market we may look at it. I am pretty sure they will not go for 120k this early in the game.

We do like the 42 but have not sailed on one. I know this one has been for sale for a long time with the price recently dropping to 149k. I will send them a email the worst they can do is say no. Actually as I a recently had a broker do to me they can lol and say no.

thanks again
jack

Aloha Carstenb
Thank you for bringing this cat to are attention.
But it is 15 meters 49.2 ft that is just to much boat for us. We are going to be
trying to stay on a budget. I have learned by working on other peoples boats.
Its not the biggest boat you can afford its the smallest you can be comfortable on.. Yes we could be comfortable on much less than a 40ft cat but we want to charter and have friend stay with us for long periods.

Once again thanks for the information

Actually, the worst they can do is not respond. That way you don't know if they read your inquiry, consider it viable, have another buyer on the line, or what price they will entertain. Basically, being left in the dark after expressing interest is the worst they can do.
