5/16 HT Chain 250'

So i'm going to be purchasing either a barrel or a half barrel of chain from 1st chain supply. I only need 300ft so i'm putting up here to see if someone in SoCal might be interested in the other 250. I'm willing to buy a whole barrel, upfront the cost and deal with delivery (I have a commercial address with a fork lift so no shpping charge) if someone wants the other 250' ft all you need to do is show up with cash and pick it up in a week or two. The price is $3.36 per foot so we both come out saving about $200 over their half barrel price and well over $500 on local prices.

Defender have a half barrel ( 275 ft ) for $3.56/foot. Almost as cheap.

No takers so it looks like i'm ordering just the half barrel.

Btw, savoir defender price doesn't include freight shipping which runs atleast $100 on something that heavy and bulky and extra if you don't have a fork lift. I'd say after shipping the price for the half drum comes out to nearly the same as 1st chain supply which includes free shipping.

<shrug> not really what this thread was about. Just offering a deal for someone local if they wanted it.

Anyway, I calculated freight using my companies fedex freight account. We ship $100,000 a month worth of fedex packages so we're not a low volume shipper. Nevada to California was $130 for 305lbs, New York to California was close to $200. <shrug> Maybe defender has cheaper but by how much? All and all i'd say the prices come out the same. I picked vendor A vs vendor B <shrug>. I liked that I didn't have to call them for a price quote on freight.

Hi Nate,

I think the comment was directed at another poster who expressed interest in your deal but was in New England so could buy from Defender without paying the shipping.

Is that for the Peerless chain or the Chinese?

Ventura area. I placed the order for 275 but don't think it's shipped yet so maybe I can change to 550 still.

Re: 5/16 HT Chain 250'

3b I think it was acco or something like that. My friend worked there didn't know it. Asked how they could justify 5+ a foot in Portland last year. I mean I was mad really mad anyway when he asked and the guy said $2.17 a foot well I was livid. Introduced me as his uncle got the good price and bought their discounted 10 foot ribbed dinghy also on the way out. It was a good day.
